A Course In Miracles Lessons 311-320 Overview

Theme 10: What Is the Last Judgment?

The Point — The Course completely reverses the traditional fear-based idea of the Last Judgment. It is not God examining your life, weighing sins, and deciding whether you deserve reward or punishment. It is the final correction of perception in which the mind hears God’s Judgment: what is false is false, and what is true has never changed. The world is seen as completely forgiven, sinless, and without any remaining purpose. Because the thought that made it has been corrected, the world simply loses its function and fades from awareness.

God’s Judgment therefore contains no condemnation at all. His Judgment is the correction of every judgment the ego made. Where the ego said guilty, damaged, mortal, sinful, and separate, God’s Judgment says: You remain My holy Son, innocent, loved, limitless, changeless, and pure. The Last Judgment is frightening only to the identity that expects punishment. To the Self, it is complete release.

Where It Fits — The Second Coming restored Christ as the one shared identity. The Last Judgment is the final recognition of what that restoration means: nothing false survived, and nothing true was ever harmed.

The Takeaway — God’s Last Judgment is not a verdict against you; it is the final declaration that nothing you dreamed ever changed His innocent Son.

Section Lessons — The lessons within this section dismantle personal judgment at its root and replace it with God’s Judgment of His Son. The sequence begins by showing that judgment creates the perception it then seems merely to report. Once judgment is surrendered, a new perception becomes possible and the future is released from repetition of the past. Giving and receiving are then shown to be one across the entire Sonship, and the student is asked to accept a unique function within a plan whose purpose is shared by all. Means and end finally converge in the recognition that the sinlessness being sought is already the Self God created. The group culminates in a startling claim: salvation of the world is not arrogance because God’s Will is total, and the Son who shares that Will also shares its power.
