I thank my Father for His gifts to me
The Point — Gratitude now becomes a way of recognizing how much has already been given. The ego’s attention is habitually organized around absence—what is wrong, missing, threatened, delayed, or still unresolved. Jesus asks the student to notice instead that the path has already shifted: there is less resistance, more willingness, greater awareness of guidance, and a growing recognition of true identity. Gratitude reinforces what the mind chooses to value. It also preserves the Course’s giving/receiving principle: as you receive God’s gifts and extend them, what is given grows in awareness.
What’s Undone — The tendency to measure spiritual progress only by what still seems unfinished and therefore overlook what has already been received.
Where It Fits — Forgiveness has opened the door. Gratitude begins helping the mind recognize what is already coming through it.
The Takeaway — Gratitude trains attention away from what the ego says is missing and toward what God has never stopped giving.
