What Is Creation?
The Point — Creation is the Course’s name for what God actually creates: the infinite extension of Love, eternally one with its Source and sharing His attributes. Creation is not the physical world of changing forms. It belongs to Knowledge, not perception, and it exists beyond time. Nothing God creates can suffer, separate, become imperfect, or lose its holiness because Creation remains exactly as God created it.
The Son shares in Creation because God extends His own creative power to His Son. This does not mean the ego creates Reality through personal thought. True creation occurs only in union with God and extends what is already true: Love creating like itself. The dreaming mind appears fragmented and unaware of this unity, but Creation itself remains untouched. The function of forgiveness is therefore not to repair Creation but to restore awareness of it.
What’s Undone — The confusion between “making” and “creating”. The ego “makes” when it projects images, forms, and illusions. God, and the Son of God “create” when Love eternally extends what is like Itself. The distinction is fundamental. Ego makes separation and then perception seems to witness it. God creates unity and Creation remains unchanged regardless of perception.
Where It Fits — The Last Judgment established that nothing false ever altered the Son. Now the Workbook turns positively toward what is true:

The Takeaway — Creation is not the world the ego made; it is Love eternally extending Itself, unchanged by every dream of separation.
Section Lessons — The lessons within this section contrast what the ego made with what God created. Freedom is relocated entirely in God, and sacrifice is exposed as impossible because nothing real can be lost. Even fear becomes something gladly relinquished rather than a price demanded by God. Personal leadership gives way to guidance, and the Course then restates its central perceptual mechanism: the world you think you see reflects ideas and desires in mind. From there the student is brought back to true causation—God is Cause and the Son remains forever His Effect. Faith is invited to become experiential rather than merely theoretical, and the final lessons undo the fantasy of an independent will. What seemed like surrender into “second place” turns out to be recovery of the only will that was ever truly yours.
